are getting married!

It all began in the summer of 2023, when our paths crossed on day dot of our Honours degree at Stellenbosch. What started as shared glances accross the classroom, soon ended up with wine tasting, hiking and iceskating dates - even though we both thought this was a passing uni fling. Though we were both surprised when Jean confessed his love - maybe a little early - late one night on a friends trip to Transkei.
At the end of uni, we both landed jobs in Johannesburg, and set out on a new phase of life in a new town. Here we would both struggle with starting out our corporate careers, but throughout it all we supported and motivated each other along. It wasn’t long before wedding talks were in the air, and sure enough, Jean popped the question one morning over breakfast pancakes in bed.
Our Story
13 February, 2023
Stellenbosch
We first met in class at Stellenbosch. Jean was wearing one of his “emo” outfits, which Sarah knew right away was a facade. While all that Jean could think about was that the popular girlie had noticed him.
30 August, 2023
Stellenbosch
After a few drinks, Jean decided to ask Sarah to officially be his girlfriend... Now we really couldn’t play it cool, especially after trying (unsuccessfully) to hide us from our classmates.
January, 2024
Johannesburg
The big move to Johannesburg. Luckily, living 5 minutes from each other meant that we could be there for all the highs and lows this move provided.
9 August, 2025
Johannesburg
Jean popped the question during an About Time-style proposal, over coffee and pancakes in bed. Many purrs could be heard from our cat Basil during the proposal - we think she approves.
